Changing Lives For The Better
Our goal is to improve the lives and futures of the young people in our care. Through personalised therapeutic care, we guide them towards independence – equipping them with essential skills to navigate life’s journey with confidence.
Our Mission
We Are Independence Development
It is our mission to be the advocates of the vulnerable young people who often fall through the cracks of society by providing them with therapeutic care. We have been operating therapeutic focused care homes for over 13 years. Independence Development Ltd was founded in 2011 by Dr Olyedemi, our clinical director, who identified there was a lack of availability in specialised therapeutic care
We now provide tailored therapeutic residential care for a range of young people in the Kent and Birmingham areas. Our care is delivered by a multidisciplinary team led by our Clinical Director, Dr Olyedemi who has an extensive background working with children, young people and adults.
Our Service Philosopy
Our mission is to provide tailored therapeutic care experience for our service users.
Our approach to therapeutic care is inspired by the work of John Bowlby & Donald Winnicott – particularly their insights surrounding attachment theory & psychodynamic theory. Through these lens we see our role not just as caregivers but as pivotal figures in shaping the developmental progress of the service users we care for.
All our therapeutic practitioners have a minimum of Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care and have been provided with therapeutic care training – this further demonstrates our commitment to providing a high quality of therapeutic care.
We are passionate about being advocates of society’s most vulnerable young people and as a result have gained a reputation for not giving up on even the most challenging and complex of cases. The through application of our therapeutic care we have been successful in enabling our young people to go on and thrive and build positive futures.
